Potter's Wheel is a discipleship course developed by John and Patti Cepin that guides students into a deeper intimacy with God. Potter's Wheel is intended to help us understand how our pasts interact with our present lives, where we learned the fears and patterns that interfere with our walks with God, and begin to turn those areas over to him. It aims to teach us the practical steps of "removing the log from your own eye." (Mt 7:5).
We must be able to identify the log in our own eye which blinds us to who we are and who God is, know what it looks like to remove it, and learn how to skillfully and wisely help someone else do the same with the speck in their own eye. (Matthew 7:5)
Jesus is far more concerned with what's beneath the surface of our hearts than the visible actions -in other words, our motives matter. Most of us have no training in discerning what's going on inside of us, or worse, have been taught to ignore our hearts and just "do what's right". Potter's Wheel is designed to help us begin to look at what is going on inside, alongside God and others, with the goal of being formed as a disciple in our inner being.
Potter’s Wheel training uses a variety of teaching methods, including interactive lectures, group discussion, personal reflection time, one-on-one soul-care discipleship, assigned reading with personal application papers, and focuses on the following topics:
This is not a counseling group - our goal is not to fix problems, but rather to become more aware of how we are feeling, thinking, and living, and being further transformed into the image of God. We are all fellow travelers on this path, and our hope is that the group will be a mutual encouragement for all the men and women who chose to participate.
